The Bracket

Championship Preview

The Continental Athletic Conference Championship game comes down to the top two seeds in the tournament. Florida College rolled through the quarterfinals game against Fisher. Then in the Semifinals, Voorhees put up a lot more resistance before the Falcons were able to extend a lead and win, 73-62. CAC Player of the Year, Matt Simpson, went for 31 in the semifinal win. Iowa Wesleyan has survived a couple of trap games to get to the championship game. In the opener, they played the host team Haskell, and needed a game winning layup with no time left to win that one. Last night, the Tigers faced off against a very tough Washington Adventist team and were able to hold them off at the end to win 53-49. They held the Shock to just 29% from the field in that game. The Tigers though have struggled offensively in the tournament. Something they are going to need to figure out headed into tonight’s championship game. Both teams have already qualified for the NAIA National Championships, so there shouldn’t be as many nerves in this one. Now, it comes down to bragging rights and for Iowa Wesleyan, they are playing for seeding! Gacoby Jones and Henry Shannon are coming off big semifinal games, we will see if the Tigers can score enough today to pull the revenge game win over Florida College!
