The Bracket

NSAA Championship Breakdown

If you look at the criteria points for at-large selections, you have to think that Mayville State gets an at-large bid with a loss. At 24-5 and winners of 7 straight games, the Comets, have had a really great season. It would be highway robbery if the selection committee passed them up. Of course, they can end that talk easily by just winning the NSAA Championship today. NSAA Player of the Year, Thomas Gieske, led the NSAA in scoring and finished 2nd in rebounding. He is as efficient of a player as you will see. The Comets are also the 2nd best shooting team in the league. Dickinson State has their hands full today, but they come in as winners of five straight games. These two split the season series with wins by 14 by Mayville and 18pts by Dickinson State. Championship games tend to be full of adrenaline, especially early on, so the team that can get settled in early, tends to have the advantage. If Dickinson State can hang early, lock in defensively then they can win this game! There will be a ton of Bubble teams across the NAIA with eyes on this game. They will ALL be Comet fans today as a Mayville State loss means someone on the bubble isn’t getting in.

  1. My fault, was up typing this at 3am and should have double checked it. And, all we were saying is that Bubble teams need Mayville to win or the NSAA will get 2 bids and steel another one. No shade thrown to Dickinson state.
