Saturday, January 30th NAIA Games
Games of the Day:
11 Bethel (IN) @ RV Grace 1pm ET Live Video
Rivalry game with a lot at stake! Grace currently sits in 5th place in the Crossroads League standings. With only 48 teams now qualifying for National Tournament, Grace needs to try to stay within that Top 4. Even then, there is no guarantee the league gets 4 teams in. Bethel is coming off their 1st conference loss since losing to IWU in November. Big game here for both teams!
RV Oklahoma Wesleyan @ McPherson 3pm CT Live Video
McPherson has quietly won 9 straight games. They sit in 2nd place in the KCAC at 12-5, however OKWU has 1 fewer loss than them at 9-4 in KCAC play. Big game as a loss in the KCAC right now could drop you down to 6th or 7th place.
Mayville State @ RV Valley City State 5pm CT Live Video
Rivalry game that could have Conference Title implications at stake. Mayville currently has a 1 game lead on Bellevue, Dickenson State and this Valley City State squad. It is tight at the top of this league, and a loss could drop either team down to 4th place. Valley City will look to avenge a road NSAA loss to Mayville State a couple weeks back.
Five Players To Watch
-9th in the NAIA in APG with 5.83
Sure hope the All-American comes back for another season. Christian is a lot of fun to watch hoop. He is still working a bit to get his shot back, but Christian has had a great career as he is closing in on 1,500 career points!
L- 5th in NAIA in FT% 96%
– 7th in NAIA in Defensive Rebounding at 8.667 per game
– 8th in Blocks per game at 2.333
– 9th in Assists per game at 5.8
– 16th in RPG at 10.167
– 40th in SPG with 2.0
ZDK is easily a Top 3 player in NAIA. His scoring numbers have dropped a bit this season, but he is a consistent triple-double watch candidate.
– 15th in NAIA in Scoring at 22.67ppg
– 21st in 3FGM per game at 3.25
– 25th in FT% at 87.2%
McKinney has been on an absolute terror these past few weeks. In his last 4 games he has gone for 29, 23, 30 and 43 points. He is surely about to be named the Heart of America Player of the Week. We joked that it feels like he has been around for 10 years, but he has had such a great career and is going to go over the 1,500 career scoring mark today!
– 10th in the NAIA in Defensive Rebounds per game at 8.0
– 14th in the NAIA in Total Rebounds per game at 10.250
– 40th in the NAIA in FG% at 59%
Another top 3 player in the NAIA. Kevion produces so much in much less Minutes Per Game than some of the other elite talent around the NAIA as the Statesmen run two groups of five in their rotations. Kevion had the Top NAIA Play of the Week this past week, showing off his athleticism in what should be a dunk of the year candidate.
– 9th in the NAIA in Total Blocks at 30
– 17th in the NAIA in BPG at 1.875
– 18th the NAIA in RPG at 10.0
The last time we had Mubashar featured we said he needs to be a more consistent scorer. In his five games since he has gone for 24, 19, 14, 31 and 25pts. He is starting to show flashes of being a force on both ends of the floor.
