Semifinal Breakdown

No. 1 Langston vs No. 5 SAGU

The Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Tritan Harper and the Langston Lions get tipped off tonight against fellow 1st team All-SAC selection, Cortland Blake and SAGU! The SAC is full of talented players, so when you get a matchup of 2 of the best players in the league, it’s always fun. This is also a battle between two of the best coaches in the league in Dalton Deal and SAC Coach of the Year winner, Chris Wright. The game tonight though will come down to controlling the pace of play. Langston is one of the best defensive teams in the country, holding teams to 60.5ppg. SAGU averages 83ppg as a team but has only put up 60 points in each of the two meetings against Langston this season. Both of which, resulted in losses for SAGU. SAGU is playing their best basketball of the season right now though as they have won 8 of their last 10 games. One of the losses were a 24pt loss to Langston. The one thing that is certain in this game is that the Lions will be victorious!

No. 2 Wayland Baptist vs No. 3 Oklahoma City

Wayland has seemingly put aside whatever caused their midseason collapse and the SAC’s top ranked offensive team has won 12 of their last 13 games. A big part of that success has been the play of Tedrick Wolfe. The former All-American at Central Baptist is tough and really competes hard. WBU is going to make it to the NAIA National Championships either by auto-bid or at-large selection. For Oklahoma City, they still have some work to do. SAC Freshman of the Year, Avery Jackson, is a scoring machine! Jackson is joined by Kori Guest as the two players who OCU needs to have big nights to get the win! The two did trade out road wins this year in their matchups with both games being decided by 10pts or less. This becomes an even bigger game if Langston wins their matchup. A Langston win means that the winner of this game will get the 2nd SAC auto-bid to the NAIA National Championships!!
