Semifinal Breakdown

No. 2 Texarkana vs No. 3 Xavier

On the Road to Muni Podcast, we talked about how the Rapides Coliseum has seen its fair share of poor shooting performances in the past. That didn’t sit well with Xavier’s, Jathen Ross, as he came off the bench to shoot 10-13 from deep, setting the school record for made 3’s in a game and lifting XULA to the blowout QF’s win. Texarkana on the other hand, struggled for most of the games against 7-seed, Our Lady of the Lake. The Eagles though, finally broke through late in the 2nd half and pulled out the win. Both of these two teams beat one another at home this season. A neutral court game between the two should be a lot of fun this afternoon! Kobe Powell has been a menace for everyone this season. Trey Spencer was held in check yesterday, so look for a big bounce back game today.

No. 1 LSU Shreveport vs No. 5 Louisiana Christian

It was Louisiana Christian who had the blowout Quarterfinal win and Top-seeded, LSU Shreveport who came down to the wire in the opening round. For the most part, the RRAC QF’s were pretty chalky, but LCU came out of the gate and beat 4-seeded LSU Alexandria by 23 for the only “upset” of the day. LCU will look for a 2nd upset in as many days today as they face off against RRAC Player of the Year, Jalen Brooks and his LSU Shreveport squad. Brooks actually was also named the Newcomer and Defensive POY winner as well. Just to add to how good of a player he actually is. This LCU team has been a bit of a thorn in the Pilots side this season. While Shreveport swept the season series, both games were decided by 3pts or less. Bailey Hardy and company will look to finally get over the hump today!
