No. 1 Georgetown vs No. 9 Cumberland

This is a rematch of a game from just 14 days ago when Georgetown came back from down 23pts with about 6 minutes left in the game. The good news for Cumberland is that they know they can play with Georgetown. The bad part is that they now have to prove they can do it for the full 40 minutes. Cumberland is talented and was a Top 25 team to start the season. An upset win isn’t off the table. However, Georgetown is rolling right now. They have won 9 of their last 10 games and swept Cumberland this season. Cumberland is coming off of a nice opening round road win against Bethel (TN). Today they get Georgetown, in an early game, on a neutral court. If there previous two meetings are any indication, this one should be a fun one!

No. 4 Shawnee State vs No. 5 Pikeville

Shawnee was able to hold on late in the season to get a bye in the opening round, but they have lost 4 of their last 7 games, so hopefully that break allowed them to regroup some to make a final charge here. This isn’t an easy matchup for Shawnee though as Pikeville has won 7 of their last 9 games, including the opening round win over Wilberforce. These two split their regular season matchups with Shawnee taking the last one by 10 points. Teddy Parham Jr led the MSC in scoring this season and is a big part of Pikeville’s success. This will be a slugfest as neither team plays fast and both have been pretty solid defensively.

No. 2 Freed-Hardeman vs No. 10 Campbellsville

Freed-Hardeman comes into the MSC Tournament as the league’s top scoring team at 80.2ppg. Campbellsville is the league’s lowest scoring team at 69.9ppg. FHU swept the season series, but when Campbellsville was able to control the pace at home they played FHU to a 4pt game. That will be key in this one today. Campbellsville has to control the pace of play and keep FHU below 70pts. They were able to do that in the opening round as they held Cumberlands to just 55pts on their way to the 71-55 road win.

No. 3 Thomas More vs No. 11 Lindsey Wilson

Reid Jolly and this Thomas More team have had a bit of an up and down year. However, the Saints have won 7 of their last 9 games coming into this matchup. A matchup that they maybe weren’t expecting as Lindsey Wilson pulled off the road upset knocking off UT Southern in the opening round. Thomas More swept the season series between the two teams, but Lindsey played TMU tough both games as they lost by 6 and 8 points. This game will come down to if Lindsey Wilson can slow down Reid Jolly or not. The All-American has had two really good games against them this season!
