Quarterfinal Breakdown

No. 3 seed Washington Adventist University (Maryland) facing No. 6 seed Crowley’s Ridge College (Arkansas)

This WAU squad has quietly been putting together a good season. Florida College and Iowa Wesleyan, as Top 25 teams, have gotten a lot of the attention coming in, but this WAU team, led by Ethan Murphy is capable of making it to the title game and getting an auto-bid to the NAIA National Championships. Crowley’s Ridge comes into this game having been without their leading scorer, Braxton Cousins, since late January. They have lost 3 of their last 5 games but will look to pull off the upset this morning.

Top seed Florida College playing No. 8 seed Fisher College (Massachusetts)

Florida College is really banged up, but the Falcons still have Matt Simpson, who is one of the best players in the NAIA. It will be interesting to see if their depth takes a toll on them at all in the CAC Tournament. Fisher does have a pair of electric scorers in Ke’Andrew Penceal and Cross Bandy. These two haven’t played since October 28th, a game in which Florida College won, 101-59.

No. 4 seed Voorhees University (South Carolina) battling No. 5 seed Arkansas Baptist College

Voorhees has good tradition within the Independents league but have been a bit down the past couple of years. Arkansas Baptist is just in it’s 2nd year as a NAIA program. This game should be a game on who can control the tempo. If Voorhees can speed up the game and make Arkansas Baptist uncomfortable, they will have the edge.

No. 2 seed Iowa Wesleyan University playing No. 7 seed Haskell Indian Nations

Iowa Wesleyan, at one point in the season, had a 21-game winning streak going. It was snapped in an OT loss to Florida College. They would love to get to the title game this weekend and get a rematch. However, they first must take care of the home team Haskell. Joey Brown and Henry Shannon lead Iowa Wesleyan in scoring and while they did beat Haskell earlier this season by 21, this can act as a bit of a trap game, especially with it being a true road game in the CAC opener.
