Semifinal Breakdown

No. 1 Union vs No. 5 Bryan

Not sure what else there is to say about this Union team. Markello Sulivan and Markelle Turner showed up and showed out in the Quarterfinals. Terrin Hamilton also did his thing. The Bulldogs are undefeated in AAC play for a reason. Bryan, was able to take down the 4-seed Tennessee Wesleyan in the QF’s as well. They got a huge bench performance from Jamari Bostic who had 25/14 in the win. Bryan did hang with the Bulldogs earlier this season, losing just by 5pts in that game. The Lions have shown the toughness and they compete hard. They also showed in the QF’s that they can put up 50pts in a half. It will be interesting to see the gameplan they go with tonight to try and pull off the upset!

No. 3 Montreat vs No. 7 Columbia International

Don’t let the 7-seed in front of their name fool you. CIU was just 1-game back of a 2nd-Seed in the bunched-up madness known as the AAC Standings. They are coming off an 11pt QF’s win over 2-seed Reinhardt, so the Rams are flying high and have confidence building. Darrian Oates has been great and put up 30pts in the QF’s game. Him and DiAnthony Hitchcock will look to continue to lead the Rams to another upset. Montreat, comes into the AAC Semi’s after a 12pt win over Point. Michael Erbeck had 22pts/9rebs in the win. Which was much needed as Montreats leaders were all held in check last night. Montreat beat CIU in their last matchup, but did lose a 1pt contest in the other game.
