Daily Dive – 1/31

By naiahoopsreport_admin January 31, 2021 0 Comments

The Daily Dive is your deep dive into the news and notes from around the NAIA Hoops World. Every day we will highlight some of the top headlines, conference updates, player accolades, coaching milestones and more. This used to be our Morning Bullet Points series. We went away from it this year, as others were doing similar things and we didn’t want to step on any toes. At the request of many, we have elected to bring it back for the second half of the season. Feel free to DM us on Twitter (@NAIAHoopsReport) or send an email to naiahoopsreport@gmail.com to recommend stories to be included into this segment.

– Since the new rankings came out on Wednesday, we have seen #7 Faulkner, #9 Morningside, #10 Providence, and #11 Bethel (IN), twice, go down inside the Top 15. We have heard that the NAIA Top 25 won’t be as big of a factor in seeding, and instead a mixture of RPI and SoS will determine that. Which is kind of funny actually, because if true, we are going to see some crazy good seeds in that 15-20 range! With that, be on the look out later today for our 1st “NAIA Bracketology Report” article. It’s a fun way to keep us entertained as we enter the last month of the regular season!

Recap of Yesterday’s Games of the Day:

11 Bethel (IN) 89 @ RV Grace 102 (Full Recap)

Grace picks up another big win at home as they have now knocked off the current #1 and #11 ranked teams this season. With the win, Grace moves to 6-5 in the Crossroads League and is in 4th place and just two spots behind Bethel for 2nd. They were led by Haden Deaton’s 22 points.

RV Oklahoma Wesleyan 86 @ McPherson 74 (Full Recap)

OKWU ended McPherson’s 9 game win streak by going on the road and picking up a good KCAC road win. The Eagles remain just 1 game back in the loss column to league leader #22 Bethel (KS). They put 5 guys into double figures last night led by Brooks Haddock with 15pts.

Mayville State 68 @ RV Valley City State 94 (Full Recap)

Valley City State ROLLED Mayville State to avenge one of their previous losses on the season. The win puts VCSU, Mayville State and Bellevue into a 3-way tie for 1st place in the NorthStar. Kevin Schramm had a big night with a 26pt, 10reb double-double to lead the way for the Vikings.
