NAIA Schedule & Links, Games of the Day, Five Players to Watch: Jan. 22nd

Friday, January 15th NAIA Games
Games of the Day:
RV Valley City State @ Mayville State 7:30pm CTÂ Live Video
Valley City State had a great start to the season, but have been playing short handed over the past few games. Mayville was one of the preseason favorites in the NorthStar and currently have a share of the conference lead. A win tonight for VCSU would put them right back in the hunt! Expect a good game between two of the best in the North Star!
RV Stillman @ 5 Loyola 8pm ETÂ Live Video
This should be a fun one tonight! Lots of talent on the floor for both teams and both teams are well coached. You would expect a higher tempo game in this one. Trey Petty and Derrin Merriweather will look to counter this Loyola attack that is led by Zach Wrightsill and Myles Burns. Could see things getting a little chippy in the two games over the next two games! A lot of guys who compete their tails off and won’t back down!
Florida College @ 10 Faulkner 8pm ETÂ Live Video
Florida College looked really good early in the year. They have been on the struggle bus the past few games though losing 3 of their last 4 games. Life doesn’t get any easier though as they face a very good Faulkner team. Faulkner’s only loss is a 2pt loss to #1 Indiana Wesleyan. As is the SSAC schedule, both of these teams will face each other on back to back nights.Â
Five Players To Watch

Ricardo is one of the better 2-way players in the NAIA. The Yotes play a tough, grind it out style of play. Time leads the team in scoring averaging 14.8ppg. He had a really great Junior season, but has stepped up into an even bigger role this year with the void of Talon Pinckney. Time hasn’t found his stroke from the perimeter yet this season, but once he does, you will see his stats climb even more!

Just another player in this NAIA Sophomore class who is making some big noise. Darrin is averaging 18.3ppg, 6.1apg, 5.0rpg all of which lead the team. His apg numbers place him 3rd in the NAIA. The do it all guard will fill the stat sheet every night and is a must watch!

While Keiron’s 3pt shooting hasn’t been as great the past few games as it was early in the season, he is still averaging 18ppg to lead Mayville State. He’s only had one game where he was not in double figures and will be looking to regain his 3pt shooting stroke tonight in a big NorthStar battle!

With Tim Soares and Brock Gardner both gone, McWilliams has done a nice job offsetting some of the scoring input that was left behind. He leads the Mustangs in scoring at 16.13ppg and is coming off of a 23pt game against BenU-Mesa. They haven’t played that tough of a schedule yet with just three games against NAIA programs. As GSAC league starts up the Mustangs will look for big games from Jordan Starr and McWilliams.

Don’t look now, but this Dakota State team finds themselves tied for 1st place in the NorthStar. A big part of that has been Josh McGreal who is leading the team in scoring at 18.1ppg. They have also added D1 transfer Gairges Daow over the last two games. Daow will help take some of the game plans away that were directed at taking McGreal away.Â
