KEY TEAMS:
#1 SAGU – Eliminated
#2 USAO – After a crazy week pushed the game to last night, USAO gets a layup with under 3 seconds left to beat Southwestern Christian 96-95. They grinded out another win in the Semifinals, knocking off John Brown 88-83 with Cameron Hines going for 30pts.
#3 Wayland Baptist – Eliminated
#4 MACU – Escaped with a 70-66 OT win over Texas Wesleyan. In the semifinals they found themselves down 15 at one point, but never quit and grinded their way back into the game before finally getting the big win.
UPSET SPECIAL:
#6 John Brown – Beat Wayland Baptist 66-55. They travel to play USAO today.
Championship Game Notes:
No. 4 Mid-America Christian vs. No. 2 USAO, 7pm CT Live Video
USAO 2-0
Seven championship games gong on at the same time tonight, but this should be one of the better ones. MACU, coming off of their upset win @ #8 SAGU, should have the resume finally to get them into the tournament. Coach Gamblin is a great coach and this MACU team has battled a lot this year. They came back from down big in that SAGU game, without leading scorer Terrance Jones. USAO gets to host the championship game and we believe are still without Head Coach Chris Francis. That hasn’t stopped them yet in the tournament. They have been able to protect their home court and now find themselves hosting the SAC Championship game.
OTHER NOTES:
– The SAC is a (2) bid league. The SAC Regular Season Champion: Clinched: #10 SAGU and the Tournament Champion or Science & Arts (Ok) if SAGU wins tournament.
Our Pick To Win It: MACU – They are full strength right now and as a former Top 5 team in the country they have the weapons to make a run at the SAC Tournament Title.
