Two familiar names for NAIA basketball fans have earned preseason recognition at the Division I level. South Alabama teammates Peyton Law and Jalen Langsy were named to the 2026–27 Preseason All-Sun Belt teams announced October 19.

Law, formerly of Freed-Hardeman, received first-team honors. Langsy, who played at Northwestern College in Iowa, landed on the third team. Both previously earned NAIA First-Team All-America recognition.

The official preseason honors and coaches poll, published by Sun Belt member Louisiana Tech, also place South Alabama fourth with 136 voting points.

Peyton Law: A Championship Foundation

Law’s path includes Freed-Hardeman’s 2024 NAIA national championship and First-Team All-America honors in 2025. According to his South Alabama biography, he averaged 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds during his final season with the Lions.

He has already produced at his new school, averaging 12.8 points and 6.0 rebounds across 10 appearances in 2025–26. His first-team preseason selection gives NAIA fans another reason to follow the Jaguars this winter.

Jalen Langsy: Shooting That Travels

Langsy arrives with a remarkable scoring record. South Alabama’s signing announcement credits him with 27.3 points per game, 152 made three-pointers and 51.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc at Northwestern in 2025–26.

That season included four 40-point games and NAIA First-Team All-America honors. The third-team Sun Belt selection puts expectations around his next step before his first regular season with South Alabama begins.

Two NAIA Paths, One Team to Watch

Preseason honors are a vote of confidence, not a guarantee of what comes next. Still, Law and Langsy offer a compelling reason to keep South Alabama on the NAIA alumni watch list: two accomplished former NAIA players, at different points in their Division I journeys, sharing the same roster.
