Men’s Games of the Day
WHAC: RV Indiana Tech @ Cornerstone – 4pm CT
A game that we noted on the Podcast for this week as the WHAC gets going with conference play tonight and it starts off with a BANG! Cornerstone comes in a little banged up, but this is a tough group led by veteran guard Christian Rodriguez who was named the WHAC POW for last week. Indiana Tech comes in at 2-2 but both losses are to current Top 10 teams. Rog Stein has been great again this season, averaging 17.8ppg/4.5rpg. Depending on who is healthy and playing today for Cornerstone, this should be a BIG time game that could help to shape the WHAC Title picture later on this season.
#20 Olivet Nazarene vs Lincoln (IL) 7pm CT
This is a bit of an under the radar game. On paper you would expect ONU to run away with this game, but this Lincoln team is better than their record shows and they are much tougher to beat on their home floor. If the Lynx are going to pull off the upset they will need to slow down ONU big man, Alex Gross. Gross is a walking double-double and will flirt around with a triple-double most games. ONU comes in off of a really great weekend of basketball with wins over #11 Morningside and a good Cornerstone team. They will need to slow down Darnell Latham Jr. tonight on the road, but they have been facing great players and tough teams all season long.
Women’s Games of the Day
##6 Morningside vs #11 MidAmerica Nazarene 6pm CT
Both of these teams made it to the Final Site of the NAIA Women’s National Championship last season. MNU lost in the Round of 16, while Morningside is coming off of a NAIA Fab Four run. While this is a new season, these are two good really good programs. MidAmerica Nazarene will have to put last nights tough loss to RV Northwestern behind them and get themselves ready for this Morningside team. Morningside has had their own early season issues though. The Mustangs are currently 0-2 after losing both matchups in the GPAC/CCAC Challenge. They play at home for the first time tonight and will be looking to get a bounce back win!
#22 Bushnell @ Montana Tech 6pm CT
Bushnell went out and challenged themselves early in the season. They sit at –1 after getting beat by #1 Westmont. They now hit the road to Montana to play Montana Tech and #7 Carroll. They shouldn’t sleep on this Montana Tech team though. The Orediggers lost a 13pt game to #5 Southeastern and also played NCAA D2, MSU Billings, to a 13pt game as well. Fifth year Senior, Morgan McKinney and Junior, Aspen Slifka both had a big game one for Bushnell. But the rest of the team struggled a bit against a very good Westmont squad. They will need more than just Sarah Reinecker to step up these next few games. Montana Tech has a well balanced attack led by Brooke Heggie with 11ppg. Returning All-Frontier member, Dani Urick is averaging 9.5ppg.
