The Southern States Athletic Conference is a 12 team NAIA DI conference that features teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

In the 2018-2019 season, Stillman and William Carey shared the regular season conference title, while Loyola won the Southern States tournament championship. The Southern States had four teams (Stillman, William Carey, Bethel, Loyola) qualify for the NAIA DI men’s national tournament. Bethel, Loyola and William Carey all won their first round games, while William Carey made it all the way to the National Semifinals before losing to the 2019 NAIA DI National Champs, Georgetown (KY).

University of Mobile hired Darnell Archey as their new head coach. Coach Archey comes to Mobile from NCAA D1 Incarnate Word. He also coached at University of South Alabama before that.
