Quarterfinal Breakdown

No. 1 Columbia vs No. 8 Lyon

As we mentioned on the Road To Muni, there are bubble teams all over the NAIA who are big Columbia Cougar fans. Columbia, based off of the last ARC Ratings, has positioned themselves to get an at-large spot, if they don’t get the AMC Tourney auto-bid. The Cougars have been really good at home this year though and as long as they keep winning, someone will have to beat them inside of the Arena of Southwell Complex. Something this Lyon team actually did back in January. This game features the top two scorers in the AMC. The Cougars boast the AMC POY, Tony Burks, who is so tough and can score with anyone in the NAIA. They will also lean on Collin Parker who has had a nice season as well. Lyon, will look to end their NAIA run with a few upsets on the way out. Tenton Bell is crazy good and if Lyon is going to beat Columbia for a 2nd time, they need him to go off tonight!

No. 4 Williams Baptist vs No. 5 William Woods

Williams Baptist leads the AMC in points scored, while William Woods leads the AMC in fewest points allowed. Williams Baptist swept the regular season matchups, but the two wins were by a combined 4 points. You can expect another close one tonight as these two teams matchup up really well with one another. Duke Hardin leads WBU in scoring and is Top 3 in the AMC. Woods Freshman, Fred Robinson leads them in scoring. Tonight, will come down to who can control the tempo and if William Woods can get their defense locked in, with the 4x DPOY, Darius Yohe, manning the middle, it will be tough for WBU to win.

No. 3 Central Baptist vs No. 6 Harris-Stowe

Brevin Bimble and TaJuan Johnson have helped Central Baptist win 4 of the last 5 games and this is a tough, well coached squad. The tough part for both teams is that they just played each other five days ago. A game that Central Baptist won by 26. We will see if Harris-Stowe can bounce back from that tough loss and compete in this one. They did beat CBC earlier in the season, so it’s not out of the question for them to win this game, but they will need to obviously play better than they did last week.

No. 2 Missouri Baptist vs No. 7 UHSP

The Regular Season Co-Champs, Missouri Baptist, have won 4-straight headed into the AMC Tourney, including a big road win at Columbia. Will we get a rematch for a AMC Tourney Title? We will see, but first they will turn their focus on USHP tonight. The Spartans are led by Brendon Hardy who sits 6th in the AMC in scoring. Hardy put up 25 on this UHSP squad on February 11th and if UHSP is going to pull off the upset, they are going to have to figure out a way to slow him down. For UHSP, it’s Jason Udolisa who sits 7th in the AMC in scoring and is averaging 20ppg against MoBap this season. Him and Mason Ballay will need to have big games if they want to pull off the upset tonight.
