Games of the Day:
#18 Benedictine (KS) @ Lincoln (IL) – 7pm CT
While we really like this Benedictine team, this is a bit of a dangerous matchup as playing @ Lincoln is no easy task. Add in the fact that, after a year at D1, All-American Darnell Latham is back with the Lynx and the elite scoring wing is a big time player. BC though has a very veteran group, who is led by the savvy play of All-American Jaiden Bristol. This should be a really fun game and will be won by the team that can control the tempo.
#25 IU South Bend @ IU East – 8pm ET
It was a bit of a strange year for IUSB last season. They only played two games before the CCAC Tournament, before winning 4 road games in 7 days to bring home the CCAC Title. They are the early season favorites to win the CCAC, but this is a tricky road test to start the year off. IU East played five games last season before being shut down in December for the rest of the season. These are two well coached, hungry programs.
Five Players To Watch
Jaiden Bristol, 6’0 Sr., Benedictine. 2020-21 2nd Team All-American
One of the best PG’s in the NAIA. He is in complete control at all times and can score when needed or be a facilitator if that is how the defense is playing him.
Antwaan Cushingberry 5’8 Sr., St. Francis. 2020-21 2nd Team All-American.
One of the more elite guards in the country. The last time we saw Cush, he was going OFF in the NAIA National Tournament scoring 28, 22 and 22 in his 3 games in KC last year.
Bryant Bernard 6’0 Sr., TN Wesleyan.
Bernard hasa huge motor and is one of the best two way players in the NAIA. He was a 1st Team All-AAC and AAC All-Defensive team selection.
Zhahidi Robinson 6’0 So., Southwestern (KS)
Robinson may be young, but he can really fill up a stat sheet. He was great for the Builders in moments last season and is already starting year off strong this year.
Darnell Latham Jr. 6’4 Sr., Lincoln
Latham, after being named an NAIA All-American, decided to make the jump to NCAA D1, Southern Utah, last season where he was a redshirt. Latham is back and adds a huge scoring punch for the Lynx.
