Day 3 Recap
A lot of chalk up and down the brackets still, but we did sprinkle in a few more upsets last night.
Top Upsets
SSAC QF’s | W3 Brewton-Parker Christian took down E2 Faulkner, 77-56
AAC QF’s | No. 7 Tennessee Wesleyan upsets No. 2 Columbia International, 78-75.
HBCUAC | W4 SUNO goes INTO Stillman and knocks off the E1 seed, 84-79.
Biggest Wins| Evangel (MO) and Life (GA)
Evangel has been toeing the wrong side of the IN/OUT line for a while now. Our newest bracket will be posted later this morning as well and this one will have the Valor on the IN side of that line. They aren’t completely out of the woods quite yet. They are certainly hoping that no bid stealers win an auto-bid and push bubble teams out. But last nights win was BIG and if the Valor knock off Friends in the KCAC Semi’s, you can SHARPIE them into the NAIA bracket!
Life is in the same boat here. A bubble team, needing a big LATE season win. Life has wins over Freed-Hardeman and Keiser. But an injury derailed them a bit in the middle of the season. They answered the bell last night/early this morning (game ended at 1:30am CT). They move onto the SSAC Semis! Is it enough? We believe so, the win should move them ahead of Florida Memorial (who now doesn’t have a head coach) in the ARC. With some other bubble teams in other ARCs, losing already, Life is in position to make tourney. A win over William Carey tonight and Life should be a solid IN.
HM big win nod to Brewton-Parker Christian (GA). The Barons knocked off Faulkner to move to the SSAC semi’s. Coach Leonard Epps has BPCU as one of the best stories in the NAIA. A team who won just 7 games last season. Hasn’t had a winning record since 2005-2006 and who hasn’t won 20 games in a season in over two decades! One of the biggest turnarounds in the NAIA this season!!
