For Comparison

Here is our NAIA Hoops Report Top 25 that we released on Sunday.

NAIA Hoops Report Top 25 – NAIA Hoops Report

Who’s New?

Union (KY) – They were 26th in our polls. Would have made the cut if we chose to drop Oregon Tech out. A VERY talented team led by POY candidate, Markelle Turner.

Evangel (MO) – With wins over No. 7 OKWU and a previously ranked USAO squad, Evangel deserved the nod. Would have climbed higher if it weren’t for a loss to Sterling.

Concordia (NE) – A team we had in our preseason polls and were glad to see get the nod in the official poll. The Bulldogs lost some good players from last season, but Gage Smith has been on a terror for a while now and is a name people, outside of the GPAC, should start taking note of.

Kansas Wesleyan – Another team we had just outside of our Top 25. The Coyotes have been playing good basketball since about January of last season.

Xavier (LA) – One of the best defensive teams in the NAIA. They are 4-0 and even gave Notre Dame a run for their money in exhibition play.

Who’s Out?

Science and Arts (OK) – With a couple injuries, especially to Rory Pantophlet, this USAO team is a completely new team then they were a year ago. They are 2-3 to start the season, with losses to No. 7 OKWU, No. 22 Evangel and RV MidAmerica Nazarene.

Oregon Tech – Poll momentum matters. They have played the toughest schedule in the NAIA to this point. The Owls are a Top 25 team, who unfortunately, lost 3 straight games headed into the polls.

Southeastern (FL) – Are just 2-2 to start the season with losses to Middle Georgia State and Ave Maria. Riley Minix is a POY candidate, so they have the pieces. New coach, Randy Lee, is still working to get things back on track.

IU South Bend – Started season 3-2 with losses to D3 Rockford, and RV Bethel (IN). Some new pieces still working their way in with the returners, but a talented group who should be fine.

Briar Cliff (IA) – Defeated No. 13 William Penn at home on a hot shooting night. But with a 20pt loss to No. 23 CUNE and another to unranked Presentation, Briar Cliff moves outside of the Top 25.

Biggest Movers

Marian (IN) – Slides up 8 slots from 14 to 6.

Indiana Tech – Slides up 8 slots from 25 to 17.

Wayland Baptist (TX) – Slides up 6 slots, from 18 to 12.

Grace (IN) – Slides up 5 slots from 8 to 3.

Montana Tech – Slides up 5 slots from 23 to 17.

Union (KY) – Makes biggest move from outside the polls, as they slide to 19th.
