Bethel just added a familiar name with an All-American résumé.

The Pilots announced Caedmon Bontrager’s commitment Friday, welcoming the Fort Wayne native as a graduate transfer in their 2026 recruiting class. For a program that faced him twice last season, there should be little mystery about what he can bring.

Bontrager may not be eligible to play until the second semester. That timeline has not been officially confirmed, and Bethel’s commitment announcement should not be read as confirmation that he is available immediately.

Bethel’s announcement follows his earlier commitment to Coastal Carolina. Teal Syndicate reported in June that Bontrager told the outlet he had chosen the Chanticleers after previously committing to Tulane. Now, the former Indiana Wesleyan standout is back in the Crossroads League picture.

Proven Production

Bontrager averaged 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds across 33 games for Indiana Wesleyan in 2025–26. He shot 56.9% from the field, connected on 29 three-pointers at 34.5%, and recorded 36 blocks, according to IWU’s official season statistics.

The 6-foot-7 forward earned Crossroads League Player of the Year and NAIA First Team All-American honors. His IWU biography also lists first-team all-league recognition in 2024–25 and Freshman of the Year honors in 2023–24.

This isn’t a newcomer who needs to prove he can produce in the Crossroads. Bontrager has already done it.

Bethel Has Seen It Firsthand

Against the Pilots last season, Bontrager delivered:

• 29 points on 12-of-16 shooting and nine rebounds in IWU’s 96–86 road win on January 17.
• 23 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 79–69 victory on February 21.

After spending those games trying to slow him down, Bethel has now secured his commitment. January recap | February recap

His scoring and rebounding give the Pilots plenty to be excited about. Adding the reigning conference player of the year is a significant recruiting move, and one the rest of the league will be watching.

Bethel’s announcement does not specify an enrollment date, debut date or eligibility determination. Those details remain separate from the confirmed commitment.
